Dr. N. Graham Standish is the pastor of Calvin Presbyterian Church in Zelienople, Pennsylvania. Calvin Church is a church community that is trying to be intentionally open to God’s guidance through prayer and spirituality in all things and is one of several churches nation-wide being studied as part of a Lilly Endowment project on Congregations of Intentional Practice. His latest book, Becoming a Blessed Church (2005) is a guide to forming a church of Spiritual Purpose, Presence and Power.
At the Becoming a Blessed Church Conference, Dr. Standish will share the story of Calvin Presbyterian Church and its journey to become a spiritually deep congregation, one that is inwardly and outwardly healthy - spiritually, psychologically, physically and relationally.
The Becoming a Blessed Church Conference will help you discern God’s purpose and the path God is calling your congregation to walk. It will help you find Christ in your midst and become aware of the many ways the blessings of God’s Spirit flow through your congregation.
"Too many churches focus only on function, on doing the activities of church, and not on the fact that at their heart churches are meant to be spiritual communities in which people form a relationship with and experience God."
"Ultimately, blessed churches are places that have discovered the great spiritual truth of congregational life: God wants to bless us, God wants our churches to thrive in their own way, and all we have to do is create the conditions for God to be welcome."
