Ash Wednesday

Ash Wednesday
February 17
6:30pm

Crimson CrossAsh Wednesday begins the most important time of the year for Christians, the celebration of the central event of our faith: the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. The Easter cycle begins with ashes: the ashes of our mortality and sins. To prepare for Christ’s resurrection we start with admitting our need for God. In our Ash Wednesday Service we acknowledge the barriers that separate us from God. Humbly we confess and ask God to turn our sins into ashes and remove the barriers as we symbolically burn slips of paper. Then we remember the death and resurrection of Jesus by celebrating communion that empowers us to be Christ’s disciples. Come Wednesday, February 17 at 6:30pm to begin the Lenten journey. The service will provide opportunity for repentance, ashes, communion, and dedication of following Christ’s walk to Jerusalem so that ultimately God will turn our Ashes to Fire.
