Ash Wednesday
Ash Wednesday
March 9th ~ 6:30pm
Ash Wednesday begins the most important time of the year for Christians, the celebration of the central event of our faith: the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. The Easter cycle begins with ashes: the ashes of our mortality and sins. To prepare for Christ's resurrection, we start with admitting our need for God. In our Ash Wednesday Service, we acknowledge the barriers that separate us from God. Humbly, we confess and ask God to turn our sins into ashes and remove the barriers as we symbolically burn slips of paper. Then, we remember the death and resurrection of Jesus by celebrating communion that empowers us to be Christ's disciples. Come on Wednesday, March 9 at 6:30pm to begin the Lenten journey. The service will provide opportunity for repentance, ashes, communion and dedication of following Christ's walk to Jerusalem so that ultimately God will turn our Ashes to Fire. Dinner will be served from 5:15-6:15pm in the Parish Hall. Please make a reservation for this special dinner. Worship service will follow in the Sanctuary at 6:30pm.
