Annual Meeting

Feb 03, 2010

Faith in Flint has been the resounding cry from First Presbyterian Church of Flint. The church’s vision has crystallized around this theme in two ways. First FPCF is a presence of Faith in this community. The church’s worship and ministries continue to declare the majesty and love of the Triune God. The church is a presence of Faith as we demonstrate by our actions that FPCF is a colony of heaven in the midst of the city of Flint. We are Faith in Flint.

Secondly, FPCF believes that God has a positive future for this area. Consequently, the church continues through its service ministries and members volunteering throughout the community to act out the belief in God’s future for Flint. The Ashes to Fire, the church’s Lent-Easter-Pentecost movement proclaims not only our belief that God is bringing resurrection and spirit to the church, but also to the greater Flint community. Because of God’s presence in our midst we have Faith in Flint.

The most important ingredient for First Presbyterian Church of Flint is discerning what God is doing and following God’s actions. We have discovered this in our mission statement: Engaged by Christ’s Love to Invite, Worship, Nurture, and Serve. This vision has lead us to have an excellence of worship delighting in God, a caring nurture demonstrating God’s love, and a servant ministry of service living out faith in God. Read the ministry reports that will add the detail to the great ministry that God is performing in our midst.

Also FPCF needs the unity of the Holy Spirit that brings the gifts and fruits that create us into the Body of Christ. With the positive vision based on worship, nurturing and service, the church needs a unity that appreciates and respects everyone’s gifts yet being of one mind seeking God’s direction. FPCF is blessed with many people wanting what is best for the church and community. To help us continue working as one mind, the new By-laws will combine the Trustees and Session into one board so that it is easy to discover that one mind with all working together face to face.

As the church moves into this new decade, the invite ministry needs to come alive. The church’s ministries are blessing all that participate. This is the time to reach out to neighbors and friends to invite them to be part of the excitement here at FPCF. This is the time to contribute to the life of the church with talents, gifts, and resources. God is with us, and the future is God’s.

 Peace,

 Rev. Dr. John L. Musgrave

Senior Pastor
