Paul gives thanks before he gives correction. He reminds the Corinthians that they “are not lacking in any spiritual gift” as they wait for Christ. Advent is not a season of inadequacy but of sufficiency—God has already equipped us with what we need. Sometimes we imagine spiritual readiness as something we have to build from scratch, but Paul insists the foundation is already laid in Christ.

He then anchors them in God’s faithfulness: the God who calls us will strengthen us. Advent waiting is not passive; it is confident. Our calling is sustained by a God who refuses to abandon the work begun in us. Even when our community feels fractured or our personal lives feel thin, grace keeps showing up to hold us together.

Reflection Question:
Where do you need to trust that God has already given you what you need for this season?
