James calls us to patience like a farmer waiting for rain. Advent joy grows slowly, nourished by trust and endurance. The early and late rains come in God’s timing, not ours, and yet the farmer works the soil faithfully in the meantime.

James also asks us to strengthen our hearts and avoid grumbling. Advent joy is communal; it erodes when we turn against one another. Waiting becomes lighter when shared. Patience becomes possible when the community nurtures grace instead of complaint.

Reflection Question:
What practice could help “strengthen your heart” today?
