Paul prays that the “eyes of your heart” may be enlightened—a beautiful Advent image of illumination. He wants the church to grasp the hope, inheritance, and power that are ours in Christ. Advent joy comes from seeing reality in God’s light rather than our own dim assumptions.

Paul describes Christ’s exaltation above all powers and His role as head of the church. We are His body—His presence in the world. Advent invites us not just to wait for Christ, but to live as people already filled with His resurrection power.
