Joseph moves from pain and confusion to openness and obedience because he listens to God in a dream. Advent love often asks us to reconsider our assumptions, to let God interrupt our well-worn plans. Joseph’s righteousness is not rigid—it is compassionate, flexible, responsive to God’s voice.

His decision to take Mary as his wife embodies courageous love. He chooses mercy over social expectation. He names the child Jesus, embracing a calling bigger than himself. Advent invites us into this same courageous, costly love that protects, nurtures, and believes God’s surprising promises.

Reflection Question:
How might God be inviting you to respond with Joseph-like courage and mercy?
